Head Start Programs

The Puerto Rican Family Institute, Inc. Bronx Head Start Program puts into practice a strong philosophy to help children gain the skills and confidence necessary to be prepared to succeed in school. The Head Start Center provides a comprehensive, center-based, full day child and family development program for families of low income with children ages 2.9 to 5 years that reside within the Morrisania section of the Bronx, New York.
We are funded to serve 153 children and their families in the Head Start program. Families receive education and support to assist them in fulfilling their role as their child’s first teacher. A team of administrators, family services, nutrition, health, and education staff work together to allow children to be independent, develop appropriate cognitive, social-emotional, communicative and adaptive skills that are necessary to succeed in grade school.
The Bronx Head Start program is located at
1423 Prospect Avenue, Bronx NY 10459.
Our telephone number is 718-991-5590.

We also have a Head Start Program in Puerto Rico.
